New project - SBS - part 2

Some progress on my shed....

 

Plaster and bricks were based with light white-beige mix. The bricks were drybrushed with terracota (Lifecolor)

Some bricks were painted individualy with fine brush (Lifecolor - rust colours)

 

Weathering of walls (various AK washes + drybrush with oil colours)

 

 

The mortar between bricks was done the same way as I described in my water-gate diorama (mix of pigments + pigment fixer)

 

 

 

Some beams to support the roof were added (Evergreen styrene profiles). These beams are clearly visible on the photos of real thing.

 

Beams and their supports were painted with basic grey-beige colour, then the "heavy chipping" medium from AK was applied. After it dried, the green colour was applied on it.

 

 

I started to work on the wooden annex in the meantime

 

 

The surface of beams was dampened. Chipping on the beams was done using toothpicks and hard bristle brush. After a few hours of drying, the beams were treated with AK washes. Some small areas were redone with a little lighter base colour.

 

The dampness and dirt on the plaster is simulated using dark grey oil colours and AK washes.

The basic construction of the roof was patiently covered with aluminium plates (from food containers). Now I don´t think that it was the best possible solution.

 

 

Various rust colours (Lifecolor) were applied on the roof (with brush and sponge)

 

 

Then the layer of chipping medium and red colour was applied.

New project - SBS part 1

Hello all,

I´ve started a new project in 1/76 scale.
An inspiration came from pictures, which you can see bellow. This will be a minimalistic scene from labor colony. That small house is a shed which was usually build close to workers´ houses. My model won´t be an exact copy of that building. All dimensions are estimated.

The first task was to make a scale plan of the shed.

The basic structure was made from foamboard.

A home-made brick panel was added to one side of the house. The plaster on this wall will be very damaged. Panels are casted from gypsum. The mould was produced by me. Same brick panels were used on my "Water gate" vignette.

I want the plaster to be rough and eneven. I made a mix of very fine clay and whipped gypsum putty.

Some bricks were re-worked with a sharp knife and brass brush.

Windows were made from Evergreen styrene profiles and transparent plastic sheets. The magnifier with LED light is a good helper.

Now it´s time to paint windows and small doors.
